Fanclub ♥ Spot On

Choreography in focus

Spot On is a new choreographic platform that offers support in the artistic research and development. Two mentors follows 14 choreographers during a two week research period and are there to challenge and encourage the artists to dive deeper into their work, experiment and see things from new perspectives. This weekend you have the chance to see what they’ve been up to – come and give your feedback!

Fanclub ♥ Open Spaces

Go Create in the Open Spaces

Residencies, places to nerd-out in your art, Open Spaces where it is up to you to make things happen – Fanclub loves it and would like to recommend a few. CodaSpace in Copenhagen started up last summer with a residency, offering free guidance and space. This summer they didn’t get any funding, but decided to offer the space for free to international creative dance artists anyways – we like! Performing Arts Forum, PA-F, outside of Paris, is a residency initiated and run by artists, activists and theorists. Visiting artists are encouraged to create their own projects, build networks and initiate other arrangements.

CodaSpace offer free space in Dansehallerne, Copenhagen 18 – 29th of July 2011
PA-F offer space and a place to sleep, St Erme, France, all year around

See you out there in the Open Spaces

Fanclub ♥ Jesper Just

More video art to the people!

Jesper Just creates video art that moves across genres and challenge the stereotypic idea of gender, sexuality and power. His unique visual universe often consists dancing, and we are excited to see him here in Copenhagen during CPH PIX. This week they are showing his films at Huset i Magstræde, and to close off, they are arranging a panel discussion together with MOMO (Moves in Movies), where they will debate movements in film – Fanclub’s own Klara Elenius is going to be in the panel!
It’s all for free, so no reason not to go…

Special arrangement with Jesper Just at Cinemateket
Sunday May 1st, at 4.30pm

Fanclub ♥ Indie

Fanclub can sense a new trend blooming…

Fanclub have recently spotted a number of successful, artistic encounters in the boundaries of concert and performance, and would like to highlight some events where contemporary dance and indie music support each other and merges into an inventive and cool expression. Carolina, who is in New York this month, just saw Steven Reker and People Get Ready staging an indie mix tape at the art space the Kitchen, and two other interesting acts hits Copenhagen venues later this spring – Swedish solo artist Moto Boy is going on a theatre tour together with two contemporary dancers, Petra Fors and Fanclub member Andrea Deres. American Sufjan Stevens’ live shows mix together costume, set design, music and dance into an eclectic arts piece. We can’t wait!

Fanclub ♥ Dorte Olesen

See our idol in action!

Dorte Olesen is one of the choreographers we are collaborating with in the upcoming project GONE HOME. At the moment she is in Stockholm working on a performance with three female dancers – The Bad, the Good, the Ugly – a study of survival, stimulation and relationships – about vulnerability, exclusion and transformations – and the hunger for love. If you are in the Swedish hood, Fanclub strongly recommend you to go see her work – Dorte is cool…

Dorte Olesen at Moderna Dansteatern in Stockholm, April 13th – April 17th

Wish we could all be there
